Polar regions

It feels very cold at the moment, and it was even colder in Nursery last week when we were learning about the Polar regions!

Unfortunately, the blog is not allowing me to upload photos at the moment, but I hope to post these very soon!

We enjoyed the following activities...
    • Building igloos using sugar cubes.
    • Balancing Polar Bears on polystyrene 'icebergs', and seeing how many we could keep afloat.
    • Using playdough to make icicles/snowmen/snowflakes etc.
    • Painting very detailed snowy pictures using white paint on black paper.
    • Getting wrapped up in warm clothes and going in our role-play igloo to sing songs.
    • Observing ice melting to reveal hidden treasures!
    • Using our cutting and sticking skills to make penguin pictures.
plus many, many more things!

Bad weather

The winter season is well and truly upon us, and the weather certainly seems to have taken a turn in the last few days.

Please be reassured that if school were to close due to inclement conditions we will try to give you as much notice as possible. A message should be sent via parentmail or, alternatively, you could listen to the local radio stations which we inform of any decision to close as soon as it is made.

If the weather worsens whilst your child is in our care, please feel free to come and collect them early if you wish.

And finally, we do intend to go out in all weathers - especially snow! Hats, scarves, gloves and warm coats are essential every day. A few parents have been sending children in wellies and bringing along a pair of shoes to wear indoors. This is a great idea as the shoes can be kept perfectly on pegs in a plastic bag.
