Focussing on a specific set of words/objects, children have to pick an item and say it as fast as they can whilst passing around a plastic potato. The idea is that the potato is hot and therefore you need to say your idea quickly and pass it on - hence the name.
This game helps to develop vocabulary and speech, but also assists children with the decision making process.
I just asked Sophie if she'd played the Hot Potato game at nursery - she said no. Then I asked her if she'd played a game where they passed the potato round - oh yes, in fact she has! Really useful info once again, many thanks.
