Stay and Play

Hello everyone!

We are very much looking forward to seeing as many parents/carers as possible this Thursday for our 'Stay and play' session.

Be prepared to get creative! As we currently have a 'Toy Workshop' in the role play area, we are hoping that parents will support their children in making some 'toys' from junk materials.

A big thank you to all the parents that continue to save their used cartons/boxes etc for us to use. We always need a constant supply!

There will also be a chance to make some funky pictures with leaves. All will be revealed on Thursday!

See you there!

Welcome back!

Welcome back to foundation stage - we hope you had a restful break.

We have a very busy term ahead of us, with new starters and, of course, the Christmas season.

This week we are learning about 2 different festivals - Bonfire night and Diwali. To celebrate these we will be learning new songs, engaging in different craft activities and trying out new foods.

Here is a little song that you could sing at home...

1 little, 2 little, 3 little fireworks
4 little, 5 little, 6 little fireworks
7 little, 8 little, 9 little fireworks
10 little fireworks...BANG!!!!

Also, please remember that we will be collecting our £2 donations towards consumables used in Nursery. Thank you to all the parents who have donated so far.

Threading

Threading is an excellent way to improve your child's fine motor control. This control is essential for future writing skill.

This treading was done with flavoured sweetie laces and fruit loops. It has never been so quiet in Nursery!

Mark-Making

We love to mark-make at Gleadless Nursery!

At last! new starters am

Finally, we have some photographs to show you of some of the new starters in our morning nursery.

Congratulations to all our new starters. They have settled in incredibly well.

A request...

We are planning ahead and thinking about....CHRISTMAS!

The school is planning to hold another Christmas Fayre this year on Friday 6th December, and the nursery staff are planning to get the children involved. We will be making 'mystery jars' to sell on the evening and hopefully raise valuable funds towards the purchase of new resources for the children to use.

We would be very grateful for any donations of clean jars with lids (any size will do) and/or small toys/games/sweets etc to fill the jars with. The objects that may be included in party bags are ideal.

If you have any of these items that you would like to donate, please pass them on to the Nursery staff.

Thank you in advance.

Parent's meeting

There will be a special meeting for all parents of children who will be starting in Foundation Stage 2 (Reception) this September.

The meeting will be held on Monday 15th July at 2.30pm onwards in the Infant Hall.

The meeting will provide information about the transition into  our school regardless of whether your child has attended our Nursery or not.

Please let us know whether you will be attending by either returning the reply slip printed on your initial letter, or by confirming at the school office.

We request that you do not bring children along if at all possible as this is a meeting for parents only.

Big Toddle

It is almost time for our annual 'Big Toddle' event. This activity is a charity fundraising event in aid of Barnardo's.

The Big Toddle will take place on Tuesday 18th June in both the morning and afternoon. The theme is 'Storybook characters' so we therefore ask that children come to nursery wearing an appropriate costume if you have one.

Parents and carers are very welcome to join us for this event. Please meet you child in nursery at either 9.30 or 1.30 (depending on which session they attend) or alternatively aim to arrive for that time with your child ready to join in.
