New starters
January always brings some new starters to Foundation Stage 1. The staff are very pleased to report that the children have settled in very well. Here are just some of the things that they have been doing whilst you are away...
Happy New Year!
In Foundation Stage 1 and 2, the children have been celebrating the Chinese new year. Some children decided to dress in red and gold to reflect the chinese belief that these are liucky colours...
We played some party games...
We did a special dragon dance to mark the beginning of the year of the dragon...
All the children joined in. It was a very large dragon indeed!
We also played some traditional Chinese music, and sampled some Chinese food. A great time was had by all. Happy New Year!

Calling all pop fans!
This half term across our foundation stage we are working on a topic called 'Over the Rainbow'. This topic is based on ideas borrowed from the story of Noah - focussing on colours and animals.
We have lots of exciting activities planned to support this topic. One such activity is a science investigation, looking at different coloured liquids and how they can behave differently.
In order to carry out this investigation, we need to collect as many clear plastic bottles with snugly fitting lids as possible. Could you please save any plastic bottles that fit this description and pass them on to your child's class teacher or key worker. Both the staff and the children will be really grateful!

New starters
Happy new year to everyone! We hope that the festive season was everything you hoped it would be, if not a little too short...
Here in nursery, we have welcomed some new starters. You may have noticed that there have been a few extra bodies around when you have dropped your children off!
Last week was very busy indeed, although we are very pleased to say that it was also extremely pleasant and positive. The new children have settled in very well on the whole, and the existing children have been most helpful. They have been setting an excellent example to the new children. Well done!
Keep checking out the blog, and letting other families know about it. A few photographs of how the children have settled will be following shortly.

A very special visitor...
Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 had a very special visitor today.
Imagine our surprise when we walked into the Nursery quiet room to see Father Christmas!
He was asleep when we arrived, so we had to tiptoe very carefully...
After singing 'Jingle bells' as loudly as we could, he woke up and read us some lovely stories...
Some lucky children helped Father Christmas find presents in his sack...
He gave all the children a special gift to keep them going until Christmas Day...
Father Christmas was thrilled to announce that everyone was on the nice list - even the staff!
I am sure you will all be very pleased to hear that Father Christmas promised the children everything they asked him for!

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas!
Well done to all the children in Foundation Stage 1 and 2 for putting on 2 excellent performances of their christmas production this week. Here are a few pictures for those who couldn't make it, or simply want a reminder...
A brilliant time was had by all. A great big thank you to everyone who helped to make this concert such a wonderful spectacle.
Our staff work tirelessly to make the costumes...
Well done to our foundation stage coordinator Mrs Wright for the fabulous music, and to Mrs Bell for her incredible lyrics. They both also worked very hard to produce the wonderful script.
